Liberal Democrats up, Tory support lower than under IDS and Labour support lowest in 17 years according to a new MORI poll

The Liberal Democrats and UKIP are enjoying a poll boost off the back of their election successes, a new MORI survey shows Liberal Democrat support is up to 22%, just 5% behind the Conservatives, who have slumped to 27% - lower than their support before they dumped Iain Duncan Smith as leader last year. Labour have a 5% lead but their rating of 32% is their lowest since June 1987.

Amongst those certain to vote the Liberal Democrats score 23%, with both Labour and the Conservatives on 29%.

The Liberal Democrats have only once (Dec 2002) scored a higher rating in a MORI survey since Tony Blair became Labour leader 10 years ago. UKIP have risen to 9%, although a MORI analyst has cautioned that this may be just a blip as it will be difficult for the party to maintain its recent high profile over the months ahead.
