Speaking at the opening of LGBT history month at Hove Town Hall on Thursday night, Councillor Paul Elgood, Chair of the City Council's Equalities Forum said:

'I am delighted to open this important event which recognises the contribution and indeed struggles of the LGBT community over the years and decades. Marking history is important as understanding where a community has come from helps to continue it moving forward. The history of the LGBT community of Brighton and Hove is very much one of the voluntary sector and how so many individuals have contributed so much to this community over the years.'
