Liberal Democrats in Hove are calling on residents to make sure that their voice is heard in the King Alfred planning process.

A planning application for a major redevelopment of the King Alfred Leisure Centre has been received by Brighton & Hove City Council from Karis (King Alfred Developments) Limited. Karis are seeking consent for a mixed use development comprising a new public sports centre, 754 residential units (including affordable housing) in two towers and eight other buildings, with ground floor commercial uses including shops, restaurants, cafés, bars, a doctors surgery and basement parking. It is not envisaged that the application will be considered by Councillors until Spring 2006.
