Lib Dems back key domestic violence project6.36.04pm GMT Mon 19th Feb 2007
Councillors are proposing £150,000 to secure the future of the Safe as House Project, that is currently funded by EB4U, and will now broaden its work to wherever it is needed in the City. The proposal has been brought forward by Labour and Liberal Democrat Councillors as part of this year's City Council Budget. The project provides an integrated, community based adult and children service consisting of 11 full and part time posts ranging from advice, advocacy and support workers to counsellors, children and young people's workers, a play therapist and a preventative education and training worker. Lib Dem Group Leader Cllr David Watkins said: 'We are delighted to be working together to be securing the future of this vital community resource. The project plays a key role and has an outstanding reputation for the impact its work is having, benefiting a wide range of people and groups each year.'
