Liberal Democrats are promising to sort out Labour's parking mess in Central Brighton, if elected in May.

Regency Liberal Democrats Sue Bucknall and Kevin Donnelly have been helping dozens of residents who have been facing difficulties thanks to the implementation of Labour's new parking scheme. The scheme was only passed when Conservative Councillors backed the controversial plans drawn up by the Labour Council. When the scheme was agreed Labour and Tory Councillors ignored hundreds of comments from residents making life harder for residents in Regency now the scheme comes on line. Residents have faced further traffic misery with the diversions on North Street. Liberal Democrats believe that the Labour Council should have thought this through more before reducing the city centre into traffic chaos.

Now problems have been caused by unenforceable bays and the installation of huge parking signs in some of the City's finest streets.

Liberal Democrats are promising to set up a Residents, Traders and Councillor Working Group to oversee the first few months of the scheme, with the ability to act quickly to resolve any issues which emerge. They will also launch a scrutiny investigation into how the scheme was originally consulted on, decided and implemented.

Regency Lib Dem Kevin Donnelly said: 'Regency residents have now suffered enough from this mess brought on by Labour and the Conservatives' arrogant decision to push the scheme through, without taking proper account of the views of residents. We warned them and now residents and traders are paying the price.'
